Weddings
Your wedding ceremony is a special occasion, and couples are encouraged, with assistance, to decide on a format that suits their individual needs, ideals and expectations.
To help couples choose their wedding ceremony on the sunshine coast, I provide a loan copy CD plus other resources which provide:
- Examples of wedding vows
- Ring exchange wording
- Some suggested poems and readings
- A number of complete ceremonies for your guidance and perusal
- Reference to a number of helpful websites
I have conducted wedding ceremonies on the beach, beside the river in leafy parks, on the verandah of B&Bs overlooking the valley, in private homes, and at local resorts and private gardens. Your special day can be catered for in a variety of ways including:
- Traditional wedding ceremonies
- Theme wedding ceremonies
- Formal, semi-formal or casual attire (I dress to suit the occasion)
- Inclusion of another language for part of the ceremony. I have spoken Japanese and Greek in words of welcome and am happy to discuss other languages as couples may desire.

Naming
Ceremonies
Also referred to as Namegiving ceremonies, this secular or non-religious ceremony is an occasion at which parents or caregivers choose to formally introduce their child to their family and circle of friends, and to bestow the chosen names upon the child.
For many people today, a religious christening is not an option, but it is still important for the family to gather, to welcome the child, to name him or her, and perhaps give some adults special responsibilities.
As a civil celebrant, it is my role to help you with a ceremony which is right for your family, and one which helps parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers and friends to put their joy, their care and their hopes for the child into a ceremony or ritual.
What is involved?
Naming ceremonies all differ slightly in structure, but usually include some or all of the following:
- Introduction & welcome
- Readings (poem/verse)
- Parental statements
- Explanation of chosen name/s
- Wishes for the child's future
- Appointment of godparents, guardians or mentors
- Recognition of grandparents
- The naming
- Vows of love & support from others
- Symbols of recognition e.g tree planting, candle ceremony, special gifts, sprinkling with water or rose petals etc
The one fee includes the following:
- Initial and on-going consultation regarding needs & expectations
- Loan folder comprising ceremony examples, readings, poems and suggestions for ritruals
- Pamphlets for guests including uploaded photographs of the child if requested and a full outline of the ceremony
- Conduct of the ceremony
- Presentation folder for the child including wording of the ceremony and Naming certificate
- Certificates for parents, siblings, grandparents and guardians/mentors
- Commemorative gift for the child

RENEWAL OF VOWS
Couples who have been married to each other for some time, often decide to renew their vows and re-commit themselves to each other. They both believe in the institution of marriage and in the fullness of the husband and wife relationship, and know that a deep bond exists between them both.
A renewal of vows ceremony, similar in structure to the wedding ceremony, encourages couple to be more dedicated to each other so that they can look forward to a settled and enjoyable future.

COMMITMENT CEREMONY
While unions between same-sex couples are not legally recognised in QLD, a commitment ceremony whereby each partner commits himself/herself to the other is an alternative. In a ceremony similar in format to a marriage ceremony, partners commit themselves to each other, and express their love and loyalty through promises and mutual affirmations.
A structured ceremony is provided, and is designed to meet the needs of same-sex couples who legally cannot marry but wish to formally unite as a couple in the eyes of friends and family.
